ARZone Podcast Episode 89 - Ruby Roth - (Not only) Vegan Cooking for Kids

Episode 89 features noted artist and author Ruby Roth.

Ruby Roth, who’s lived vegan since 2003, is an artist, designer, an activist and is the author and illustrator of four vegan books for children: “That’s Why We Don’t Eat Animals” (2009), “Vegan is Love: Having Heart and Taking Action” (2012), ”V Is for Vegan: The ABCs of Being Kind” (2013), and most recently “The Help Yourself Cookbook for Kids: 60 Easy Plant-Based Recipes Kids Can Make to Stay Healthy and Save the Earth” (2016).

In addition to her degrees in Art and American Studies, Ruby has researched animal agriculture, health, nutrition, and the benefits of a plant-based diet for nearly a decade. Her books have been featured throughout the world in the press and translated into numerous languages.

Ruby joined us to talk about her passion for teaching children about kindness, social responsibility, and the benefits of veganism. Audio podcast, approx 23 minutes.

SAEN, founded by the Budkies in 1996, is a grassroots organisation in the United States that is focused on ending the abuse of other animals in laboratories.  

The Budkies campaign, educate and investigate full time throughout the US. SAEN calls attention to - and in many cases has put a stop to - experimentation on primates and other individuals, the seizures by labs of dogs and cats from shelters, as well as revealing many other forms of routine abuse.

ARZone Podcast 54: Dr. Andrew Knight Returns!

Episode 54: ARZone welcomes back special guest Dr. Andrew Knight.

Andrew speaks with ARZone about his work making schools of veterinary medicine aware of methods and procedures that respect the lives of other animals, he answers some questions regarding the health and diets of cats and dogs, and he tells about the incredible vegan endurance events he's participated. Dr. Knight is the author of the book The Costs and Benefits of Animal Experiments which examines the practice of medical testing on other animals. Andrew is an Australian born bioethicist, living in London, who is now a European Veterinary specialist in welfare science, ethics and law. He first spoke with ARZone in a podcast published in July 2012. At that time, Andrew spoke about his pending lecture tour of Peru and his eagerly anticipated world’s first ever vegan ultramarathon in Wales, which sounds like it was more like a survival adventure!

Episode 47 features special guest Dr. Andrew Knight. Andrew talks about his book The Costs and Benefits of Animal Experiments, the problem of vivisection, the use of other animals in veterinary schools, vegan ultramarthons and fitness, and much more. Approx. 44 min audio podcast.



Dr. Andrew Knight is an Australian bioethicist and European Veterinary Specialist in Welfare Science, Ethics and Law who lives and practices veterinary medicine in London. He is a Fellow of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics, the Director of Animal Consultants International, which provides multidisciplinary expertise for animal issues, and he is spokesperson for Animals Count, a British political party for people and animals.

Andrew has produced over 50 scientific publications on animal issues. His key publications include a major series examining the contributions to human health-care of animal experiments. His work has attracted several awards at international scientific conferences, and forms the basis for his 2010 PhD as well as providing the foundations for his 2011 book The Costs and Benefits of Animal Experiments.

Andrew’s other publications have examined the contributions of the livestock sector to climate change, vegan companion animal diets, the animal welfare standards of veterinarians, and the latest evidence about animal cognitive and related abilities and the resultant moral implications.
